EVERYONE IS TERRIFIED, FORD IS ON FIRE
Danny Ford is the 2022 ADPL Challenge Trophy Champion!
Danny reached the final today dropping only a single frame on his way there. He was faced with the much experienced Roy Middleton, reaching his second final in the space of seven days! Danny found himself two frames in front before Roy responded and got himself on the board. The fourth frame was a pivotal frame in the match, both players played out a series of tactical safety play before Danny opted to take first blow and attempted to take the frame away; he runs out of position and retreats. Roy has a chance but he painfully watches on as the white ball disappears down the pocket and Danny takes out the frame for 3-1. Roy's luck didn't improve in the next frame where he wen in-off from his break shot, Danny looked to be on course for a reverse dish but he runs out of position on his last red and sees his effort agonisingly stay out of the pocket and allow Roy back in! Roy starts potting his colours only to see his white disappear and give Danny two shots. Danny makes no mistake and wins the frame to nudge 4-1 in front. Roy wasn't done just yet, he managed to get himself into a position to secure the next frame and claw the score back to 4-2. It was a short lived revival though as Danny took out the last frame for the Title!
Commiserations to Big Midders. Congratulations to Danny; he played extremely well all day.
Thanks again to the Cliffburn Hotel for their hosting and sponsorship. See you again next season, if not before!

A massive hand and congratulations to James Curran, our 2022 Cliffburn Singles Champion!
James overcame a valiant Roy Middleton in the final by five frames to four, which went all the way to the very last ball!!
Both players had to wade through a plethora of players before reaching the final; taking notable scalps en route; which setup an enthralling finale. After sharing the first eight frames a decider ensued and it was Roy to break. James could only look on as Roy steadied himself and started maneuvering himself around his chosen set of yellows. He steadily tucked them all away but ran slightly out of position on his last colour but recovered and gave himself a shot at the black. A tough pot at the best of times, amplified by the circumstances, Roy watched agonisingly on as it narrowly missed. James played a couple of safety shots to keep Roy at bay before taking his opportunity and tidying away his reds to leave the black down the cushion; he composed himself and sunk the winning black.
Hard to see either of these two gents have to suffer defeat; but Roy took home the consolation prize money and should be extremely proud of his efforts over the course of the day.
James has been at the business end of tournaments for a while and now adds this title to his honours list, well done.
Thanks to Lee Devine and his staff at the Cliffburn Hotel, not only for their very welcoming hospitality but for their hosting and sponsorship into the prize pot!
Also to the players who entered and managed along, I hope you all had a great day.
On a personal note, a special thanks to Lee from me. Lee presented myself with a voucher to spend at the Cliffburn as a thank you for my assistance with the pool matters. So thank you and much appreciated.
